Saluda Grade Trail Celebration
Thursday, July 31 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Tryon Depot, 22 Depot St / Downtown Tryon
Join us for a festive event overlooking the rail line near the NC/SC border. Learn about the story of the trail so far and the vision looking forward. Enjoy live music. Connect with fellow friends of the trail. And learn how you can plug in to the effort to move it forward!
Downtown Tryon is a designated social district, so feel free to bring a drink from a nearby bar or restaurant to the event. There are also many opportunities to enjoy dinner in downtown Tryon, some a very short walk from the depot. It’s a perfect example of how the Saluda Grade Trail can be a boon for local downtowns!
Hope to see you there!

Public Comment Period Opens for Safe Streets for WNC
Draft Safety Action Plan
July 16, 2025 - August 20, 2025
The French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (FBRMPO) and Land of Sky Rural Planning Organization (LOSRPO) are pleased to announce the release of the Safe Streets for WNC Draft Safety Action Plan (SSWNC) for public review and comment. This plan is a regional effort to help reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries across Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania counties.
Developed in collaboration with local governments, NCDOT, transportation partners, and community organizations, the Draft SSWNC Safety Action Plan outlines key strategies, data-driven priorities, and targeted improvements to make streets safer for everyone, whether walking, biking, driving, or using transit.
The final Safety Action Plan will incorporate community input and guide future investments and policies aimed at preventing crashes and saving lives.
